This quiz focused on sentence structure and eliminating wordiness. Rather than beat around the bush, it allowed us to see the difference between double negatives in a sentence, excessive adverb/adjective use, etc.

ReplyDeleteThis quiz focused on simple short sentences. Active writing is writing that proves its point simply while avoiding excessive words.
ReplyDeleteEffective writing does not mean that you must use really large words,or that the sentances have to be long. It just means that you should try to get the sentance as clear as possible and most to the point as you can. Some of the shorter sentances in the quiz were actually the correct answer because they were the clearer and more precise ones.
ReplyDeleteeffective writing is allowing sentences to flow so that they are easy to read by getting rid of wordiness, double negatives, etc.
ReplyDeleteEffective Writing can change what the writer is trying to say. For example, one of the sentences said that papers flew out a window and someone caught them but the other choice made it sound like the person flew out the window, not the papers.

ReplyDeleteEffective writing is eliminating excessively large words. It is better to have clear, concise sentences than long and muddled sentences with large words.

Effective writing is the ability to avoid lengthy sentences and unnecesary vocabulary, and instead write clear and concise statements.
ReplyDeleteSometimes wordiness is not the best solution to make you sound fluid or smart. Or awesome for that matter.
